Marvel Legends Guardians Vol 2 Titus BAF Series Review
With another new Marvel movie on the horizon, Hasbro has again turned to the cinematic oeuvre to provide the inspiration for its latest Marvel Legends series. Fortunately this year, the options at the cinema are more expansive than another batch of Avengers in various shapes and forms, and we've got a new Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor to look forward to watching. It's the former that inspires the first new action figure wave of 2017, and Hasbro's improved sculpting since the last film makes this collection of galactic heroes something special.

The comic world has been abuzz with new trailers for Spider-Man Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, both of which arrived at a time when we needed a little bit of delightful superhero humor. Following those reveals, Hasbro has been on a bit of an announcement tear itself, showing off new toys tied to the upcoming Marvel movies. We've actually seen a few of these latest Guardians of the Galaxy toys throughout the year, but the line-up for the first GotG, Vol. 2 wave is now officially locked in with a solid mix.

Drax Finally Arrives to Complete the Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy
Every single member of the Guardians of the Galaxy got a figure from Hot Toys over the last two years except for Drax. Oh, Drax was certainly teased a number of times, but the honor-bound meathead never made it outside the confines of those glass displays. If his figure never saw the light of day, it certainly wouldn't have been the only time a series was left unfinished, but fortunately that won't be the case. Despite Hot Toys' best attempts to keep the Destroyer locked away, the green brute will finally be able to join up with the rest of the galaxy's heroic rogues. Based on the likeness of Dave Bautista, Hot Toys' Drax is damn impressive. The company's been on a streak of good-but-not-great likenesses as of late, but Drax here seems to be getting back on track. Again though, we're trapped in a land of bland expressions. Drax is a man of action. He should at least look like he's ready to fight instead of stuck in line at the DMV. I know Drax is overly serious in the film, but would it kill Hot Toys' sculptors to make it look like these characters are having any feelings beyond the grim realization of the eventual heat death of the universe?

That Drax fella has a thing for retired wrestlers; he was played by one, Dave Bautista, in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and is being written by another, C.M. Punk, in his new self-titled series. Never let it be said that Marvel doesn't give new talents a shot; Punk is relatively inexperienced in the comics writing game, even more so than Bautista at the acting game. Fortunately he's tag-teaming with co-writer and Sixth Gun creator Cullen Bunn, and the two of them can count on the expressive and dynamic pencil work of former Captain Marvel artist Scott Hepburn, who will help keep the blood flowing as Drax the Destroyer carves his way through his enemies. Check out an unlettered preview.

Hot Toys Brings Quicksilver, New Drax and Nick Fury to ACGHK
This week's Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong event is barely underway, but Hot Toys has already announced a handful of new and eagerly awaited figures in its sixth-scale Marvel line. The company's had an incredibly busy year with both the Star Wars and Marvel Cinematic Universe making up the bulk of Hot Toys' new figures. While the majority of the Avengers: Age of Ultron cast has already been shown numerous times, the ACGHK marked the debut of Quicksilver, and for the first time, an all-new Nick Fury based on his appearance in Captain America: Winter Soldier. Neither of those reveals was as important however as the update to Guardians of the Galaxy's Drax the Destroyer. Drax has been MIA from any official release schedules, unlike the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy. As the last member of the crew to be formally announced, fans had been plastering Hot Toys' social media pages with pictures of an earlier prototype, hoping against hope that eventually Hot Toys would actually have news on the character's figure instead of another new Iron Man armor to hype. Today, those dreams came true.

If either of them ever come back to the squared circle any time soon, former WWE superstars CM Punk (a.k.a. Phil Brooks) and Dave Bautista may have to tussle over ownership of Drax the Destroyer. Marvel announced at C2E2 in Punk's hometown of Chicago this weekend that he is the co-writer of a new Drax ongoing series set to debut late this year. (Bautista played the character in last summer's Guardians of the Galaxy movie.) The publisher unveiled an Ed McGuinness-drawn cover to the first issue, but hasn't yet named the artist for the series, nor Punk's co-writer.

Superpoll: Pratt vs. Evans, Round III: Guardians Vs. Avengers
Chris Evans and Chris Pratt have made a bet on the outcome of this weekend's Super Bowl that will see one of them show up at the other's choice of children's hospital or hospice in their Marvel superhero costume brandishing their rival's team colors. Either Captain America will carry the flag of Pratt's Seattle Seahawks, or Star-Lord will don the jersey of Evans's New England Patriots. We couldn't let this titanic tussle between two of Marvel's super-Chrisses pass by without a contest of our own, so we're pitting the worlds of Star-Lord and Captain America head-to-head in a series of polls that we call... the Superpoll. Round two currently sees honors divided between the two heroes, with Red Skull and Redford claiming victories for Cap, and Kitty Pryde and the 1980s bringing it home for Peter Quill, but you still have time to make a difference. Today we pit the two heroes' teammates head-to-head in five rounds of titanic tussling, using a special matching algorithm (not really) to determine the fairest fights (we picked the match-ups we thought were the most fun). Welcome to the Superpoll: Round III.
