Spider-Man has one of the most colorful rogues’ galleries --- partially due to the fact that he’s been around for so long --- but the creators behind Spidey have always just supplied him with variety from the get-go. Whether it’s any one of them alone or teaming up in groups like the Sinister Six to take down the high-flying webslinger, Spidey’s baddies come from all walks of life and create awesome threats for our hero and his friends to overcome. These are the best Spider-Man villain cosplays.
Hasbro hasn't been bashful about dropping Spider-Man Marvel Legends waves a few times a year. Alongside the Avengers, Spidey has provided the foundation on which the Marvel Legends collections these past few years have been built. With that in mind, it's getting to be a bit of a challenge to find new versions of Spider-Man to include.
Using Spider-Verse as a bit of inspiration, Hasbro's turned out a terrifically diverse set that gives us a new twist on Peter Parker, Miles Morales and Venom --- all characters that have been seen in the Legends line before. Coupled with those three, we also get our first Silk, a fantastic Electro and a delightfully creepy Hobgoblin. In a year when we were fast approaching Spider-saturation, Hasbro found a way to keep things fresh.
Marvel and TinyCo's hit mobile game Avengers Academy has charmed fans with its fun and breezy approach to familiar characters and addictive gameplay. Recently the game finished the first act of its Spider-Man special event, which introduced Spider-Ham, Black Cat, Mary Jane Watson, The Lizard, Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin to the game, and today it's launching Act 2, which promises to be bigger and better.
A hero is defined by their villains, and the world of superhero comic books is filled with some of the scariest and silliest bad guys around. Rogues' Gallery aims to settle the score and determine who is the true arch-nemesis for some of favorite superheroes, and we need your help to do it!
In our first installment, we want to know who is the ultimate Spider-Man bad guy. Which villain strikes fear into the heart of Peter Parker in a way no-one else can?
Each weekday, ComicsAlliance brings you a carefully selected variety of links from around the web about comics and comics-related media, including movies, video games, toys, and whatever else might be worth noting. Quite frankly, these are items you may just need to know about to have a productive day. Take a look at today's hand-picked links after the jump.
I didn't make it out to the theater to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this weekend -- I had some crucial paint drying that needed to be watched -- but all the hype surrounding it actually did make me want to go back and read some classic Spider-Man stories. The only question was which one would have everything that I wanted, which was pretty tricky since I've only really seen Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone lately thanks to their appearances on The Tonight Show.
But then I found one of the all-time classics, Amazing Spider-Man #89, the one where Spider-Man has to go to the laundromat with a bag on his head because he's trying to get money by appearing as a guest on a talk show. It's even got Electro in it -- although I don't think any of the other 83 villains from the movie make an appearance.
Tuesday's links await, after the jump.
Snipers, amirite? Every time you try to try to talk down some unstable smurf-looking dude with the power to blow up Times Square while wearing a luchador-like Spider suit, they think it's their place to intervene. Take the shot? More like take a hike! Poor Peter Parker's just gotta put up with their usual antics while meeting Electro for the first time in the latest The Amazing Spider-Man 2 clip.
Thanks to Wal-Mart Canada, fans can finally scope out next year's Marvel Super Heroes sets from LEGO. In the mix are sets that seem to sit nicely with the upcoming Marvel multimedia slate, including three Ultimate Spider-Man sets, and two Avengers Assemble sets. Sure, they're technically based on Disney XD's current two Marvel cartoons, but there's a prominent Electro minifigure ripe for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie release this summer. Perhaps best of all, though, is the reveal of LEGO MODOK.
