Two great sci-fi properties come together next week with Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern #1. Written by Justin Jordan from a story by Robbie Thompson, with art by Barnaby Bagenda, this is the beginning of a six-issue miniseries that connects character from the Planet of the Apes movies to DC's Green Lantern mythology.

DC Comics' outreach to independent publishers for crossovers with licensed properties has already yielded some bizarre but entertaining comics, but next year's Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern might take the cake for the weirdest crossover you didn't know you wanted. DC, Boom and 20th Century Fox have unveiled further details for the project previously teased at New York Comic Con, including the news of which creators get to helm this curious title.

Crossovers are all the rage at Dark Horse this year, as the publisher announced two huge new miniseries at Emerald City Comicon this past weekend, mixing up its licensed properties with those of publishers such as Boom Studios and 2000 AD, with Judge Dredd crossing over with some familiar alien threats, and Tarzan paying a visit to a very familiar planet. Dark Horse also unveiled a brand new ongoing series from Rat Queens writer Kurtis Wiebe and newcomer Mindy Lee, which has been described as Rat Queens in space!

IDW and BOOM Studios are planning an epic crossover between two of the world's biggest science-fiction franchises; Star Trek and Planet of the Apes. The crossover is between the original Star Trek crew and the original Planet of the Apes apes (and their damn dirty human pals), and the story will of course brilliantly be titled, "The Primate Directive."
