In honor of the caped crusaders of the convention scene, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), an ongoing collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into a super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
This week's selection of the best cosplay ever includes Samurai Jack, Poison Ivy, Nurse Joy, and Officer Clawhauser from Zootopia.
While DC Comics has had a great 2016 largely thanks to its DC Rebirth initiative, the success of its updated Hanna-Barbera titles such as Future Quest and The Flintstones has been one of the most surprising hits of the year. Next year, DC is doubling down on its classic cartoon characters by teaming them up with some of the most iconic heroes in the DC Universe in a number of special annuals set for release in March.
For as long as he's been around, Space Ghost hasn't had very many different styles. The dude is still rocking the same white jumpsuit and yellow cape he's worn since he debuted in the '60s. Sometimes you just don't need to mess with such a terrific design. That can be a bit of a challenge though for a company like Mezco, which likes putting out a few variants for the same figure to give fans a few more options. That's been a hallmark of Mezco's One:12 Collective line, with numerous figures getting alternate versions that bring something new to the table. Not every character has gotten one though, so it didn't seem like Space Ghost would be getting one either.
Fortunately for everyone, that won't be the case. Though Space Ghost doesn't have a costume variant like the Dark Knight Returns Batman or Judge Dredd figures, he will indeed be getting an exclusive variant through Entertainment Earth. Turning a figure like this invisible isn't exactly something that could be done, so Mezco's done its best to approximate Space Ghost's phasing powers by giving him the ability to glow in the dark.
Is there anyone that doesn't love Space Ghost? Hands people, let's see them. Okay, you're all excused. Space Ghost rules and I will accept no other possible outcome. Those of you still with us, prepare to be amazed with quite possibly the best Space Ghost collectible that's ever been made. And definitely the creepiest Blip.
In my lifetime, there have been but two attempts at making a good Space Ghost figure before Mezco's crack at the character in the One:12 Collective line. Art Asylum's Space Ghost: Coast to Coast (complete with desk and chair) was definitely aimed at a specific audience, but was a solid sculpt with good articulation. The same could be said of Jazwares' take, which was much more rooted in the more traditional Hanna-Barbera style and came with a funky Blip. Neither touches what Mezco's doing with its take.
Mezco's One:12 Collective hasn't been around very long (just one released figure, and one shipping soon), but it's already made a major impression on collectors. Featuring incredible articulation, real fabric costumes and a wealth of accessories, Mezco has seemingly brought the same kind of quality and experience you'd expect from larger, more elaborate (read: expensive) collectibles to an affordable scale that fits in with most other figure lines.
As the first entry in the brand, the Dark Knight Returns Batman may have set an impossible bar for Mezco to meet again, but that doesn't mean the company isn't trying. At San Diego Comic-Con this year, Mezco revealed a partial upcoming slate of figures it has planned for 2016, including more DC heroes, and some interesting surprises. Though only in prototype form, the pieces look to continue what Mezco started, and evolve the One:12 Collective into more than just a flash in the pan.

I have been looking forward to the Baltimore Comic-Con for quite a while. While Baltimore is not on the same size as a Wizard World show or San Diego it is still one of my favorite events of the year. This year seems to be going off without a hitch
