The Superpoll: Pratt vs. Evans, Round V: The Final

CA_Superpoll5

Chris Evans and Chris Pratt have made a bet on the outcome of this weekend's Super Bowl that will see one of them show up at the other's choice of children's hospital or hospice in their Marvel superhero costume brandishing their rival's team colors. Either Captain America will carry the flag of Pratt's Seattle Seahawks, or Star-Lord will don the jersey of Evans's New England Patriots. We couldn't let this titanic tussle between two of Marvel's super-Chrisses pass by without a contest of our own, so we're pitting the worlds of Star-Lord and Captain America head-to-head in a series of polls that we call... the Superpoll.

The other polls have now closed, so it all comes down to this final face-off, and one big question. Who is the better Chris? Which one would you watch the Super Bowl with? Is it goofy dinosaur-chasing space-faring man-child Chris Pratt, whose infectious sense of humor is now matched by an unexpected sidestep into hunkdom? Or is it Dorito-shouldered marble-skinned adonis Chris Evans, who transcended fratboy roles to become an irresistible all-American boy-next-door? Pratt. Or Evans. Only you (collectively) can decide.

The Superpoll: Pratt vs. Evans, Round II: Kitty vs. Peggy

Round one is shaping up to be a 2-to-1 victory for Evans, with Cap and the Avengers trouncing Star-Lord and the Guardians, but Star-Lord's jam -- Hooked On A Feeling -- is easily besting Cap's jam, the Star-Spangled Banner. Today we look at the parallel forces in our two heroes' lives; the villains they face, the lost eras they belong to, the extraordinary women who put up with them, and the venerable Hollywood legends that inexplicably deign to appear in their movies. Welcome to the Superpoll: Round II.

The Superpoll: Pratt Vs. Evans, Round I: Star-Lord Vs. Captain America

CA_Superpoll-r1

Chris Pratt and Chris Evans have gone to war. The second and third most handsome Marvel movie Chrisses (or third and second, maybe) have launched a Twitter feud over this coming weekend's Super Bowl between Pratt's team, the Seattle Seahawks, and Evans' team, the New England Patriots. Evans has now promised that if his team loses on Sunday, he'll visit the Seattle Children's Hospital in his Captain America costume, waving a Seahawks flag. But if Pratt's team loses, Pratt agrees he will visit the Christopher's Haven home for children with cancer in Boston, wearing his Star-Lord costume and a Tom Brady Patriots jersey.

The stakes are high. And adorable. And only fate, and maybe sport, can decide the outcome of this bet. But we wanted to give ComicsAlliance readers a chance to weigh in on the Pratt/Evans handsome-face-off, so all this week we're running a series of polls pitting the world of Captain America against the world of Star-Lord. At the end of the week we'll tally up the results to see which of these men is the people's champion. Welcome to The Superpoll.

Guardians Of The Galaxy: A Star (Lord) Is Born [Review]

Untitled-1

Director James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy is a big gamble for Marvel Studios. It's an unknown quantity even to most comic fans. It's a space opera at a time when non-Lucasfilm space operas don't perform well. It's a movie with a talking raccoon at a time when even Disney princess movies don't have talking animals.

Of course, all of Marvel's movies have been gambles. Iron Man wasn't a household name, despite how we think of the character now. Thor was a sci fi fantasy movie -- what could be worse? Captain America seemed an impossible sell for overseas markets. Bringing those franchises together for Avengers? Insanity. Marvel Studios' safest bet was probably Hulk -- a household name and a proven quantity -- and that's been the studio's weakest performer. So it looks like the big gambles are where Marvel excels. If Guardians Of The Galaxy is the studio's biggest gamble to date, it makes a weird kind of sense that it's also one of the studio's most delightful successes.

Comics, Everybody: The History Of Star-Lord Explained!

Untitled-1

With the still-can't-believe-they-actually-made-this-one Guardians of the Galaxy opening this weekend, it’s time again to break down the convoluted history of comics in the recurring feature we call Comics, Everybody! Courtesy of cartoonist Chris Haley of Let’s Be Friends Again and colorist Jordan Gibson, the subject of this edition has an uncommonly strong claim to the title of unlikely hero. Or at least, unlikely movie star. That's right, we're talking about Star-Lord, the Marvel Comics space hero created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan.

Whether you’re new to Guardians and Star-Lord and curious to learn more about his ridiculous history or you’re a hardcore Marvel nerd looking to Um-Actually this feature into oblivion, you’ll be sure to enjoy this special tribute to the galaxy's newly famous nobody.

Hear The Exclusive Debut Of Adam WarRock’s New Track, ‘Star-Lord’

star-lord-cover

Nerdcore rapper Adam WarRock, a.k.a. Eugene Ahn, is back doing his thing with a rap tribute to the legendary outlaw Star-Lord -- the soon-to-be-famous leading man of Guardians Of The Galaxy, as played by the internet's boyfriend Chris Pratt. WarRock told ComicsAlliance, "It's weird to me that by the end of the week, everyone will know who Star-Lord is, and actually love him. I mean, it's Star-Lord. But anyway, I'm excited, and hopefully this song gets you even more pumped for the film."

The track is free to download at AdamWarRock.com, and you can find the man himself online on Twitter and Facebook. This isn't WarRock's first Guardians of the Galaxy track; a few months back he recorded "Murdered You," a loving tribute to Rocket Raccoon, which you can also check out right here.
