Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy Arrive this April
After announcing Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series in December, Telltale Games has been very secretive about when and where the spacefaring adventures of Marvel's reluctant heroes would arrive. With nothing but a vague hint that we'd be able to hang with the gang in 2017, many of us eagerly awaited the next details on the developer's first Marvel Comics video game. Well wonder no more, true believers. Telltale's Guardians are arriving in just a few short weeks this April.

Ping. Ping. Ping. The sound of an aluminum baseball bat is familiar to anyone that's walked through a public park in the summer, or hit up the batting cages by the mini-golf course after a round of 18. I thought I would always remember that familiar pang as something pure and beautiful. Then I watched the new trailer for Telltale's The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, and all I can think about is the sound that same bat makes when smashing in a zombie skull.

Announced late last year, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is the fan-favorite developer's first attempt at crafting an episodic adventure in the Marvel Universe. It's not the first game from Telltale to take place in space, nor is it the first Telltale game based on a movie, but it is the first to have a talking raccoon and tree. So there's that. While details have been slim since the announcement teaser, ahead of PAX East Telltale Games has released the first batch of official screenshots from the upcoming game. What's more, Telltale's also revealed the voice cast behind our favorite space-faring heroes.

Turns out Telltale Games' big reveals weren't just limited to the Marvel Universe this evening. During The Game Awards, the developer showed off an extended look at the first episode in the next chapter of its ongoing The Walking Dead saga. This time, players will step into the shoes of new character Javier, and guide him as he attempts to survive in the post-zombie world. Javier won't be alone however, as Telltale's fan-favorite character Clementine will also take part on this journey.

It's officially official, everyone. The Guardians of the Galaxy will star in Telltale Games' next new episodic adventure game. Announced with a brief teaser trailer at The Game Awards, the footage confirmed rumors that we heard not that long ago about Telltale's plans with Marvel. Though the teaser is certainly short, it does at least offer some idea of what to expect from the upcoming game. Most notably, another dope soundtrack, and potentially hints that the game will be set in the movie universe rather than the comic continuity.

The gaming world has been waiting anxiously for the return of Clementine, star of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead. While this year's visit with Michonne was a nice break in the pattern of sadness being dealt to the teen protagonist, many of us have been eager to see just what's been going on with Clem since we left her at the end of Season Two more than two years ago. The good news is, the wait is almost over as Telltale has announced Season Three is coming next month. The bad news is that four week wait just became excruciating.

You've got to give it to Telltale Games with this Batman series. The developer has made licensed games before, but taking a character and world as adored as the Dark Knight's and making it wholly your own in this day and age isn't easy. There have been so many different interpretations of the Batman myth over the last 75 years, it's not only hard to find a new wrinkle to explore, it's also next to impossible to tell a worthwhile story tapping one of those unseen veins. With Batman: The Telltale Series, Telltale hasn't just done all of those things, it's done them incredibly well. This gaming adventure has been a terrific joy to experience from the get go (even if it is at times a bit buggy), and the further into Telltale's version of Gotham we go, the more invested we've become. Now of course comes the tricky part, as the latest trailer introduces the Joker for the very first time.

Back in 2015, Telltale Games announced a partnership with Marvel Comics to adapt some of the publisher's characters into new video games in the Telltale mold. While things have been relatively quiet on that front over the 18 months, we did always know the effort was targeting a 2017 release. We still had no idea what that property could have been, but we did know when it might be coming at least. In that same time, Telltale has gone on to continue its Walking Dead series and add Batman to its stable. Now thanks to a recent release from SAG-AFTRA, we might have an even better of what characters might step into one of Telltale's adventures next. As it turns out, 2017 might not just be a great year for Guardians of the Galaxy on the big screen, they may be getting a full-fledged video game to boot.
