Playmates did a thorough job of building its "World of Springfield" toy line to include scores of regular cast members from The Simpsons from 1999 to 2004, but one potential aspect of the line went unfulfilled for years... until now. Just in time for the show's 25th anniversary, fans will be able to collect action figures of The Simpsons celebrity guest stars in their four-fingered Matt Groening-style glory.

The first wave of figures shown at Toy Fair will include James Brown, Tom Hanks, Yao Ming, Hugh Hefner, (Coach) Homer Simpson and Kid Rock. Each of the characters will be available in 5" action figure form -- which is more or less in scale with Playmates' previous series (and Mattel's 1990 series)  -- as well as a 2" miniature.

The line's second series is due out in April and will include Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and Keith Moon of The Who, plus Mark Hamill, Britney Spears, Lucy Lawless (in pseudo Xena attire), Tony Hawk, and a new version of Maggie.

You can see all of the figures that were on display at Toy Fair below.
