While AMC's The Walking Dead TV series tread some familiar comic book ground in its first season, according to Joystiq, Telltale Games' upcoming TWD videogame will offer a fresh story not found in either Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's current comic storyline or the second season of the TV show. In other words, potentially all killer and no filler for established fans who've been getting a double dose of Rick Grimes' tortured existence lately. Additionally, Telltale's revealed new concept art depicting the game's all-new protagonists who'll adventure through a shared corner of the TWD world in a somewhat parallel narrative. From Joystiq:

The game will follow Lee Everett, a criminal loosed from his police escort after it runs into an erstwhile zombie. Everett will unite with a seven-year-old girl named Clementine who Telltale says will provide a sort of moral compass for the convict.

As Rick Grimes tries to make his way into Atlanta, Lee and Clementine are trying to make their way out, which means they'll cross paths with established series characters like Lilly and Glenn.

Everett and Clementine seem like a pretty dynamic duo for surviving a world gone mad. Though Everett seems tough enough, he'd better do something about getting some shoes on that little girl. Folks without proper footwear don't seem like prime zombpocalypse survivor material.

The game's planned episodic nature could indicate gameplay might mirror that of other Telltale releases like its Back to the Future games, although it's still too early to tell. As the game's potential fourth quarter release date on pretty much every platform shambles closer, though, things should come more into focus.
