Anyone initially skeptical of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy quickly changed their tune at the prospect of talking raccoons and trees, something Disney XD’s upcoming animated rendition knows full-well. Our latest look at Guardians of the Galaxy writes a love letter to all raccoons, talking or otherwise.

If you’re not particularly a fan of Jared Leto’s Joker aesthetic in Suicide Squad, then the latest Joker-centric news may put a smile on that face (sorry): Zach Galifianakis is in talks to join Will Arnett’s Batman and Michael Cera’s Robin in the LEGO Batman movie as the voice of the iconic clown prince. Cue laughter.
I’m not ashamed to say it; I watched Jem as a I kid. I liked it! It wasn’t so much the glamour and glitter that appealed to me (ditto the fashion and fame). But the idea of this rock star with a superhero-style secret identity seemed really cool, as did some of the details of the rock-and-roll lifestyle, which I assumed (at the age of like five years old) was basically like a documentary.
Guardians of the Galaxy gave (or at least alluded to) backstories of only four of its five members, but haven’t we all wondered who puts the Groot in “I am Groot?” Get the full story of Groot’s growth (as well as our first animated look at Ronan the Accuser) in a new short from Disney XD’s animated Guardians of the Galaxy!
Batman’s iconic animated series has influenced The Dark Knight’s legacy and vocal talent for decades, but did you know that Tim Curry almost voiced The Joker before Mark Hamill? Or that the animated adaptation created Harley Quinn altogether? You are vengeance, and you are the night, you will enjoy our 18th episode of ‘You Think You Know TV?,’ which flies through Gotham City on leather wings for Batman: The Animated Series!
In this grim and cheerless world of ours, there are two extremely rare occasions that can make any day roughly one thousand times better: The release of a new Achewood strip, and the release of a new Homestar Runner cartoon. Neither one happens often, but when they do, it's like the skies have opened up and we have been presented with a beautiful gift.
This week, we got the latter: A brand new H*R cartoon from Matt and Mike Chapman (alias the Brothers Chaps), featuring Strong Bad, Homestar, and a brand new character. But has Homestar returned... just in time to die?!
Just over a year to the day after Guardians of the Galaxy had us all hooked on a feeling in theaters, Star-Lord and the crew are back with a brand-new beat. We’ve seen a few frames, but the first official Guardians animated series trailer brings a Galaxy’s worth of new action.
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving communities of costuming that exist, such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. Over the years, the cosplay community has evolved into a creative outlet for many fans to establish and showcase some impressive feats of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics at conventions. In honor of the caped crusaders of the convention scene, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), an ongoing collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into a super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
The comics, sci-fi, gaming and fantasy communities’ talents for homemade disguises, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics are definitely on display this weekend at Boston Comic Con, and we were there to check out the show as well as capture some of the stellar cosplay on display.

This August, Boom Studios is bringing us back to the weird world of Over The Garden Wall with a four-issue miniseries written by show creator Patrick McHale and illustrated by colorist and cartoonist Jim Campbell. Set between episodes three and four of the show, the miniseries promises more of the sort of old-timey curiosities that the show and last year's one-shot comic special delivered. Check out our exclusive five-page preview.
We were fortunate enough to be on hand at Comic-Con 2015 to catch Marvel’s animated Guardians of the Galaxy premiere, but now it seems the Disney XD series will fill in backstory even the movie skipped over. See Star-Lord and Yondu’s first meeting in our first full clip from the new Guardians series!
