At 7:21 PM, it had just rounded $90,000. The campaign is set to fund a three-day live-action roleplaying session next summer in Virginia, allowing backers to attend classes, cast spells, solve magical mysteries and --- if you're willing to shell out the cash for a premium experience --- even join a secret society with its own special subplot. Also, there will be a breakfast buffet, so I'm gonna need $450, thanks in advance.

According to Facebook comments by artist J. Scott Campbell, Marvel and its parent company Disney are phasing out the "Slave Leia" costume from their merchandising and publications. If the reports are true, the move suggests that Disney is stepping away with the most degrading canon representation of one of Star Wars' few female characters in an effort to broaden the appeal of the franchise to include more women and girls. The metal bikini and elf shoes could soon be a thing of the past. And to this I say: it's about frickin' time.

The Comics Code Seal of Approval, adopted on this day on 1954 by the Comics Magazine Association of America, is an instantly recognizable image to generations of comic readers.
