It's fairly commonplace for comics to change creative teams or other details early on in their runs, but it's pretty rare for a comic to change its actual title between the first and second issues.

That's exactly what's happening with Simon Oliver, Robbi Rodriguez, and Rico Renzi's Vertigo series formerly known as Collider, though. Starting with issue #2, which comes out August 28, the series will be known as FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics.

Why the name change? Here's what series writer Simon Oliver told MTV Geek about it:

Unfortunately at the eleventh hour someone else seemed to believe they had the name "Collider" staked out and had planted a flag in it before we did. To be honest I haven’t gotten that involved, I don’t know who they are, what their book is about, but I wish them well with it.

Oliver said the second printing of the first issue will have a new cover with the new series title on it. And he said there's a silver lining to the name change: It gave him and the rest of the team an opportunity to reassess what the series was really all about.
