Just about every character fans could have wanted appears to be coming to Injustice 2. The latest trailer introduces Doctor Fate to the mix, giving the fighting game sequel its first master of the mystic arts. While Zatanna and Raven held that honor in the original game, neither has been seen yet in this sequel. Doctor Fate brings his signature golden boy style to Injustice 2's alternate future, and some very interesting trap magic combat.

The roster for Injustice 2 is shaping up quite nicely, mixing some familiar faces with characters that haven't gotten a fair shake in DC video games in the past. Doctor Fate is one of those characters. Though he had a bit part in the previous Injustice game, he's really only appeared in DC Universe Online in a substantial role. As one of the premiere magic wielders in the DCU, it only makes sense that he's finally getting a chance to show just how powerful he is against the rest of the heroes and villains in that world.

Fate has a lot of ranged spells that look impressive, and even calls on the ankh to deliver some pointed justice. He's even got a bit of a trap spell that stops in the middle of the battlefield to let him control distance with the opponent. We see him against some of the more brutish characters in this trailer, but I'm curious to see how he'll handle himself against more agile attackers. Either way, it's all about that killer super move which summons an opponent into the Helm of Fate itself. Inside, the good Doctor is waiting to dish out more pain to anyone that dares cross the sorcerer agent of Nabu.

Note to self, follow the Doctor's orders or else.

Injustice 2 will be out on May 5 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
