Kevin Keller Goes Witchity In A ‘Sabrina’ Cover Homage [Preview]

For a company that only recently got around to doing variant covers, Archie sure has caught on quick to how to do them in a fun way. Case in point: Kevin Keller. Over the last nine months, Riverdale High’s newest student has been featured in a series of “Retro Variants,” with veteran Archie artist Dan Parent dropping Kevin into homages to stuff like Pureheart the Powerful, and even Superman’s first appearance in Action Comics #1.

This June, though, Kevin’s kicking it with the darquest of all sorceries in a retro variant inspired by Dan DeCarlo’s classic cover to Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1! Check out bigger versions of both comics below!Unfortunately for fans who want to see Kevin dabbling in the terrors of blackest magick (me), the cover is just for fun. The actual story, in keeping with Archie’s usual strategy once June rolls around, features Kevin taking a job as a lifeguard. Here’s the solicitation:

KEVIN KELLER #9
“The TAG-ALONGS”- School is out and summer is in as the Kellers take off on a road trip. Mr. Keller is being honored for his service at a special ceremony – but half the fun is getting there so the family takes the scenic route! But how will Kevin do without Devon? And Veronica? And what about the new lifeguard job Kevin was supposed to start with Wendy and William? How do you decide between friends and family during the summer? It’s easy: you don’t! Sounds like more summer fun than one guy can handle!
