Jem Meets 'Fury Road' In 'Outrageous Annual' [Preview]
After only six issues, the cast of Jem and the Holograms has already had to deal with discovering a secret sentient supercomputer, creating an entire alternate persona for their stage-frightened lead singer, a battle of the bands, a massive food fight, three first dates, and --- in typical Jem fashion --- at least one attempted murder. That's a lot to deal with even without the whole thing where they're, you know, a band that's also trying to raise money for orphans. With a schedule like that, they're going to need some downtime. And that's exactly what's on the schedule for next week's Jem and the Holograms Outrageous Annual, which finds the group having a nice relaxing evening at home with a bunch of movies. But what with this being comics and all, they find themselves thrown into their own versions of the stories that they're watching, including Aja's starring role in a segment that looks an awful lot like Mad Max: Fury Road. Check out a preview of two of the four stories below!

IDW is going where they don't need roads. In a press release that is apparently from the future, the publisher announced Wednesday it'll be publishing a new Back to the Future anthology comic starting in October. Subtitled Untold Tales and Alternate Timelines, the series will follow alternate versions of events from the movies, fill in the gaps between them, and offer up prequel stories. (Maybe we'll see Doc Brown's college years!)

'My Little Pony' #24 Visits Dangerous Animals Of the Past
The world of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic raises a lot of questions about animals. I mean, they're talking horses, but they also have a complicated economy and businesses, all built on the very shaky premise that a bunch of talking horses are going to build an entire financial system around selling cakes, and it only gets more complicated when you throw in the fact that there are other animals involved. Take Applejack for instance. She owns a farm, and while she obviously primarily raises apples, she's also got a herd of cattle -- cattle who also talk, and seem to have hopes and aspirations of their own. What I'm getting at here is that the relationship of the ponies to other animals is pretty complicated, and it's only set to get more so in next week's My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #24, when Fluttershy and the Cutie Mark Crusaders are dragged through time by a semi-reformed chimera to see some dangerous animals from Equestria's past.

Those of you who haven't kept up with IDW's My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic comic may not be aware of this, but the junk has gotten real over the last few issues. In the latest story arc by CA favorites Katie Cook and Andy Price, everyone's favorite ponies have found themselves in a Star Trek style parallel universe, where the good guys are bad, Applejack is a member of the pony Mafia, and Pri

Artists Celebrate Harold Ramis With Touching Tributes
Like everyone else, the staff of ComicsAlliance was deeply saddened this week by the death of Harold Ramis. As an actor, writer and director, Ramis had a hand in crafting some of the films that shaped our lives and our sense of humor, including Caddyshack, Animal House and, of course, Ghostbusters, where he played the deadpan Dr. Egon Spengler and cracked up countless moviegoers just by telling th

The Gang Learns Reading Is Fun And Potentially Life-Threatening In 'My Little Pony' #15
It wasn't that long ago that the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic animated series did an episode all about the joys of reading. It's a good lesson for the kids, but it does raise an interesting question about just where you go with literary themes once that's done -- especially in the MLP comic, which is presumably already being read by children who enjoy, you know, reading. Well, if you're Hea

Ponyville Versus THE MOON! In ‘My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic’ #8
Surprising absolutely no one, I've been having a lot of fun reading IDW's My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic comic, and what the second arc lacks in David Bowie references, it certainly makes up for in action. Now, it's heading into the climax of the story, in which Ponyville is preparing to do battle against the Moon. That's right: The friggin' Moon.
