Avengers: Age of Ultron

From Marvel and DC to Scooby-Doo and Star Wars, this year's line-up offers incredible do-it-yourself creations for fans of all ages, even those meddling kids.

The first official images of Hot Toys' upcoming Ultron Prime from Avengers: Age of Ultron has been loosed to the wild, and they don't disappoint... much. While we've been waiting patiently for a better look at the big bad behind this summer's big Marvel blockbuster, we've got to admit, it's a little bit of a bummer this high-end figure is so barebones. Unlike the previously announced Avengers that will make up this line, Ultron Prime doesn't come with much beyond a menacing presence and few lights. At least the minimal Thanos announced a short while ago comes with a massive accessory in his stone throne. All Ultron comes with is a lighted base, which is nice, but nothing to get amped up about.

With a movie the size of Avengers: Age of Ultron, we’ve been seeing a lot of promo art hit the ‘net in recent months. Obviously we’ve been a little more interested in new concepts, like Vision, Ultron, and the Hulkbuster Iron Man armor, and today brings even more promo art from Joss Whedon’s upcoming sequel, featuring all that and then some. And judging by some of this art, Ultron might just win his battle.

If you thought Hot Toys was only going to release sixth-scale faithful recreations of the Avengers roster as it exists in Avengers: Age of Ultron, you were wrong. The Chinese toymaker just announced a new line of designer figures, which will debut with a collection of six characters from the upcoming Marvel sequel. The Artist Mix line is a new way for Hot Toys to offer a bit more diversity in its catalog, while also allowing the company to partner up with designers and artists that provide a style radically different from what we're used to seeing from the high-end manufacturer. For this first wave, Hot Toys has teamed with toy designer Touma to craft mini, bobble head versions of Iron Man, Captain America and Ultron.

Seems like you can't check the internet these days without a new monthly mystery box subscription being announced. From geeky flavored subscriptions like Loot Crate and Nerdblock, to lifestyle selections like Birchbox and The Gentleman's Box, there's something for everyone. Typically filled with a random assortment of goodies based around a theme, these boxes have offered subscribers a way to try new things without spending too much cash. However, we've rarely seen a single brand put out a box based solely on its own goods. That's where Funko's and Marvel's new Collector Corps hopes to stand out.

For what seems like an eternity, Lego and Marvel fans alike have been looking forward to the brickmaker's take on SHIELD's iconic mobile headquarters, the Helicarrier. After years of waiting, the dream came true. This March, Lego will release a massive scale replica of the high-flying fortress, complete with the world's first ever Maria Hill mini-figure. Coming in at just under 3,000 pieces (2,996 to be exact), the Lego SHIELD Helicarrier isn't just going to be a beast to put together, at 31 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 11 inches tall, it's also going to be one of the largest Lego sets in the Marvel Super Hero Line (though it's still a bit smaller than the Lego Super Star Destroyer from Star Wars). It should be noted, the Helicarrier being released is going to be based on the first Avengers film, and not Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, the mini-figures included are all based on the costumes Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and Maria Hill are wearing in the latest film. And yes, you read that right; there will be two female figures included, even if it will cost you $349.99 to get them.

The deluge of Avengers: Age of Ultron merchandise is almost upon us, and in some places, it's already begun. We got our hands on some of Hasbro's Age of Ultron All-Star Series figures ahead of their scheduled release, and while they lack the articulation of the Marvel Infinite series, they get the job done well enough.

Funko's had its hand in just about every major license on the planet since its wildly successful and lucrative Funko Pop vinyl figures became a hit. So it should come as no surprise to learn Funko has a whole range of Avengers: Age of Ultron collectibles planned. In standard Funko fashion, you can expect to find Pop! vinyls of all your favorite Avengers... provided of course that they're the male members of the team. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and Hawkeye (and his ridiculous trenchcoat) will all be available this March. Joining them for the first time will be Ultron and the Vision, with a very atypical magenta and grey color scheme.

Revealed earlier this year at Toy Soul, Hot Toys' Avengers: Age of Ultron Captain America finally got the spotlight this weekend with a host of new images. The first official pictures of Hot Toys' upcoming Captain America, the eighth such figure of Steve Rogers, show off his new Avengers uniform in great detail, as well as the all-new shield he'll equip in the sequel this May.

Now that the threat of Skynet destroying us all has been averted by an increasingly crappy series of Terminator movies (or maybe they're just disappointing us to death), a new technological threat to all life on Earth has emerged. In order to promote the forthcoming pic Avengers: Age Of Ultron, tech giant Samsung has joined forces with Marvel to put Ultron in all your smart devices. Yes, the word "smart" to describe technology has never been more insidious than it is now. Smart; scheming; devious.
