True Blue: SDCC Special Edition Worlds Unite Recap, Part 7
Welcome to the seventh installment of True Blue, our weekly recap of Archie Comics‘ crossover event between the Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man series, “Worlds Unite.” Each installment, we’ll recap the notable moments of the latest chapter in “Worlds Unite” with Archie Action Editor Vincent Lovallo, and take a look at what lies ahead for the next chapter of the crossover event. This week, we're digging even deeper with more details about the future of Archie Action, Mega Man and Sonic Boom straight from San Diego Comic-Con. Previously in "Worlds Unite," our heroes had been searching for Sigma and his hideout, Lost Hex. The group, traveling aboard Sky Patrol, had been searching the area Wily and Eggman directed them to, and were met with swift resistance from Sigma's new robot army. Fortunately, the team of Freedom Fighters and Robot Masters makes short work of the mechanized opposition, but the Deadly Six prove to be a bit more trouble than expected. Even as defeat loomed, the Zeti were able to overcome the odds and take control of Mega Man and his friends to do the fighting for them.

Sonic Goes Capcom & Sega Crazy in 'Sonic the Hedgehog' #275
The days of Sonic the Hedgehog being confined to his own, Sega-centric universe are long over --- he's met Mega Man in comics and done Olympic events with Mario in games --- but the speedy blue guy has quite possibly never been to a world as expansive as the one he's going to experience in August's Sonic the Hedgehog #275 from Archie. Not only is Mega Man involved in part eleven of the huge "Worlds Unite" event, but lots of other Capcom and Sega worlds will be part of the story, too. Street Fighter, Billy Hatcher, NiGHTS into Dreams and Monster Hunter are among the other franchises in the mix. Check out our exclusive reveal of covers by artists Patrick "Spaz" Spaziante, Edwin Haung, Lamar Wells, Tracy Yardley, and Rafa Knight!

The question most often asked of the ComicsAlliance staff is a variation of, "Which comic books should I be reading?" or, "I'm new to comics, what's a good place to start?" The Wednesday deluge of new comic books, graphic novels and collected editions can be daunting even for the longtime reader, much less for those totally unfamiliar with creators, characters and publishers, and the dark mysteries of comic book shopping like variants, pre-ordering, and formats.

As previously announced by Valiant, running in the back of each of their titles in July will be a six page short story titled Who Will Lead the H.A.R.D. Corps. Written by Jim Zub with art by Edwin Huang -- the acclaimed team behind Skullkickers -- and featuring color by Dave McCaig, the short promotes the upcoming Bloodshot and H.A.R.D. Corps #14 with an inside look at the interview process other Valiant characters went through with Project Rising Spirit, in the hopes of being hired to lead the Corps. Valiant has provided ComicsAlliance with the complete six page story -- featuring a desperate Quantum, a drunk Armstrong and dejected Master Darque -- which you can check out in full after the cut.

I make no claims of being an expert on all matters both dungeon and dragon related, but I will proudly admit to having rolled a 20-sided die or two in my time. And one thing that's been fairly consistent across all the fantasy role-playing games I've experienced in my life is certain amount of disconnect between the players and the setting...
