Bizarro Back Issues: Dilton Doiley Gets Possessed By 'Denim'
Last week, when ComicsAlliance launched its poll to determine our readers' favorite Archie character --- and I'm happy to announce that Jughead Jones has taken a considerable lead, narrowly beating Randolph The Kid Who Likes Anime --- I tried to mention a few things about the characters that the average reader might not know. Veronica, for instance, had a storyline where she was revealed to be the prophesied destroyer of all vampires, which is a good thing to know even if it doesn't tip the voting scales in her favor. But there was one piece of the Riverdale puzzle that I thought I should probably elaborate on: That time that resident nerd Dilton Doiley was possessed by a sentient jean jacket. And believe it or not, it's somehow way weirder than it sounds.

Classic Archie Can't Catch A Break In 'Archie Digest' #55
With all the hubbub surrounding the recent relaunch of Archie and Jughead, one of the things that's flown under the radar is that brand new "Classic" style Archie stories are still being produced in the pages of the Digests, which feature a new lead story along with the usual reprints. And in those stories, young Mr. Andrews is still up to the familiar hijinx, which, at this time of year, take on a festive wintry theme. Take, for instance, the story that we have in World of Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #55, "Take Your Cake And Beat It Too," in which Archie's attempt to find a date for Riverdale High's Winter Dance is blocked by viral videos and, amazingly enough, robots. Check out a preview, along with a quick look at this issue's reprinted stories, below!

IDW Celebrates 75 Years Of Archie With Crossover Covers
If there's one thing we have learned throughout the history of comics, it's that if you joke about something ridiculous long enough, then eventually, it's probably going to happen. Which, I imagine, is how we got the upcoming variant cover for IDW's Judge Dredd where the stone-faced lawman of the future finally meets Archie Andrews. Okay, okay, so right now, it's only a variant cover as part of IDW's upcoming celebration of Archie's 75th Anniversary, which will see a pretty amazing set of covers where IDW's various titles --- including Transformers, Jem and the Holograms and Star Trek --- meet up with Riverdale's favorite teens. Check them out below!

Alex de Campi Talks 'Archie vs. Predator' [Interview]
Ever since it was announced, I was pretty sure that Alex de Campi and Fernando Ruiz's Archie vs. Predator was going to be everything I wanted out of comics. Now, with the first issue out, I know for a fact that's true --- at the very least, it's my favorite Predator crossover of all time, replacing even the one where Judge Dredd takes his shirt off and fights a Predator with a knife alongside Dutch's granddaughter. But really, that first issue is just the tip of an alarmingly violent iceberg, which is why I spoke to de Campi about how she prepared for the series, why she's so drawn to writing Betty, Veronica, and the medium of emojis, and why she wanted to give Dilton a giant robot Archie that he could use to fight aliens. Really.

Even though it was announced months ago, I'm still having a hard time believing that we live in a magical world where Alex de Campi and Fernando Ruiz's Archie Vs Predator is a real thing that is happening. Even in a time when the company's most critically successful book is a moody supernatural horror story where the entire cast is about two seconds away from being murdered by zombies, Archie Vs Predator still seems like a beautiful, beautiful dream. That's why, in order to confirm that this is in fact happening, I spoke to Ruiz about what it's like to send the Predator to Riverdale, and how it compares to drawing Betty riding a dragon.

Archie/Dark Horse Announces 'Archie Meets Predator'
It was just the other day that I was writing about how I never really understood why comics were always crossing over with the Predator, but today, I have officially been convinced that it's all worth it. Archie Comics and Dark Horse have announced Archie Meets Predator, coming next spring from writer Alex De Campi and artist Fernando Ruiz. The Predator, an alien from space who comes to Earth in order to hunt the deadliest and most skilled humans alive, will join The Punisher, KISS and the cast of Glee in the illustrious and growing roster of unlikely Archie crossovers, and while Frank Castle took a few shots at our redheaded hero, it seems like the Predator is the one most bent on doing violence to our Riverdale pals.

'Life With Archie' Confronts Gun Violence In Penultimate Issue
We've known for a few months now that Archie Comics' Life With Archie series, about the possible adult lives of the Riverdale teens, will end with lead character Archie Andrews' death. Life With Archie #36 hits stands this week, and thanks to an interview with Archie publisher Jon Goldwater for the AP, we now know that this is where Archie meets his end -- and we know how it will happen. Readers who don't want to know too many specifics before the issue goes on sale should avoid reading any further, and perhaps also avoid the comics sections of the internet entirely for a couple of days.
