The ‘Spider-Man’ Newspaper Strip Is the Craziest Superhero Story Happening Today

Amazing Spider-Man comic strip

I think it's safe to say that Spider-Man has been through some pretty weird stuff in his time, right? I mean, that's a fifty-year saga that started with a radioactive spider-bite that gave him limited psychic powers and super-strength that he immediately used to try to find fame as a professional wrestler, and the fine folks over at Marvel Comics have somehow managed to top that for weirdness time and time again. Heck, right now, Spider-Man comics are in the midst of a supervillainous Freaky Friday story that has been running for over a year. That should tell you something.

But for my money, the absolute craziest and most hilarious Spider-Man story in years isn't the one you'll find in the comic shops on Wednesday. It's the one that's happening right now in The Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strip, by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Alex Saviuk and Joe Sinnott.

The 10 Best Marvel Movie Casting Decisions (So Far)

Untitled-2

The news that Paul Rudd will play Hank Pym in the 2015 Ant-Man movie is the latest piece of inspired casting from Marvel Studios. Rudd will bring charm, humor and an appealing eye-twinkle to what may prove to be Marvel's most comedic movie under writer Joe Cornish and writer-director Edgar Wright.

Marvel characters have found tremendous success on the big screen, both in Marvel's own "in-house" movies such as the Avengers line and in those produced by other studios, such as the Wolverine/X-Men films. Bringing an established character to the screen is an unusual challenge because readers have a strong idea of what they want to see, and actors want to bring something new to the role. ComicsAlliance offers its view on the performers who pulled this off best.

J. Jonah Jameson, Arnim Zola And The Devourer Of Worlds Show Up In ‘LEGO Marvel Super Heroes’ [Video]

LegoMarvel01

I really loved LEGO Batman and the sequel that brought in the rest of the DC Universe, so I've been looking forward to their take on the Marvel superheroes since the game was announced. Now, as we draw ever closer to the game's release this fall, we're getting a few more details about the plot and story of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes with a video that introduces you to the villains of the story. Dr. Doom, Hydra, Arnim Friggin' Zola, and, biggest and baddest of all, Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds.

Okay, yes, this is the least surprising surprise reveal in history (and one that's pretty easy to recreate with real-life LEGO sets just by wearing a purple hat and stomping around the house), but it's still pretty awesome. Check out the video and a few new screenshots below!
