All-ages superstars Art Baltazar and Franco are back at DC for Super Powers, which is all about the super-heroes helping each other out, and all the silly things that happen along the way.

Baltazar and Franco are known for their previous DC books Tiny Titans and Superman Family Adventures, as well as Dark Horse's Itty Bitty Hellboy, and their creator-owned Ah Yeah Comics. They have a particular skill for creating truly all-ages comics in which kids appreciate the jokes and light-hearted adventures, while older comics fans are treated to a deep well of references and a distilled, iconic take on classic characters. This book looks to be squarely in that vein.

The preview starts with Superman turning up at the bat-signal, to Commissioner Gordon's surprise. It turns out that Batman is missing, and it falls to Superman to clean up the Gotham crime wave that has erupted in his absence. That leads to battles with adorable versions of Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Penguin, and the Riddler.

Meanwhile, Batman has been kidnapped to New Krypton by Brainiac, who's setting up a trap for Superman. While I'm excited for other heroes (especially Wonder Woman) to appear in this book, this sequence is pleasantly reminiscent of those old World's Finest Comics, where Superman and Batman's lives casually overlap all the time.

Super Powers is out November 23, and features a variant cover by Franco, in addition to the regular cover by Art Baltazar.
