Although he was on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, we won’t be seeing Patrick Stewart’s elder Professor X in Bryan Singer’s upcoming sequel. But there is good news for fans of Sir Pat Stew, as the actor has revealed that Charles Xavier will reunite with his old pal Logan for The Wolverine 2.

Even though he previously said he’d love to play the character until he dies, Hugh Jackman has recently maintained that The Wolverine 2 will mark his final appearance as the iconic character. After how pleased we were with The Wolverine, we’re hoping the sequel can provide a proper send-off for Jackman, who has just revealed the first teaser image from the film.

Hugh Jackman was the first to arrive on stage for the X-Men: Apocalypse portion of the evening, where he once again confirmed The Wolverine 2 as his last Logan outing. We’ve been hearing for some time now that Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine for cameo appearances in both Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse — because how can you have an X-Men movie without Wolverine? The actor has appeared in every X-Men film to date, so it makes sense. Jackman himself has finally addressed the rumors, but don’t expect a straightforward answer.

Last time Deadpool and Wolverine got together on the big screen, things didn’t turn out so great. The less said about that, the better. That appears to no longer be the case, as Fox has tapped Michael Green for screenwriting duties on the next chapter in our favorite furry mutant’s journey. It’s unclear whether Green will be starting over from scratch or simply delivering rewrites, but Fox is probably intent on really nailing this sequel, as it will be the last time we see Hugh Jackman portray the character on screen.
