We at ComicsAlliance have never been shy about our love for Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie's excellent indie Phonogram. We named The Singles Club the fifth-best comic of 2010, broke the story about Phonogram's end, and wondered hopefully at the teasing implications of a return. When The Immaterial Girl was announced in 2012, we celebrated, and when we heard it was pushed back to 2013, we were a little crestfallen. But when it was announced that Gillen and McKelvie would be the creative team on the relaunch of Young Avengers, we figured we could probably wait a little longer. We were right. Five issues in, the creative team has made Young Avengers one of the most exciting and experimental books on the stands, and one of the few comics about youth that actually captures the energy and potential of it.

We didn't realize when we set out to list our favorite comic books of 2012 that it had been such a fun year to be a fan of the medium that we all love so much. The last twelve months offered readers a wide variety of work ranging from the most crowd-pleasing superhero epics to the most idiosyncratic of indies; the return of much missed mangaka and the emergence of exciting new talent; a new crowd-

Young Avengers artist Jamie McKelvie showed off some custom Adidas made to resemble Captain Marvel, the superheroine whose costume he recently redesigned to great acclaim (particularly from cosplayers). McKelvie availed himself of Adidas' "mi adidas" campaign, which allows customers to configure a number of sneakers to their specifications, to create a shoe that you could easily imagine

Marvel NOW! Teases ‘Amateurs’ From Kieron Gillen And Jamie McKelvie
Clearly, the Marvel NOW! teasers are just getting unfairly abusive with the latest release. After all, Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie have been making comics together (The wonderful Phonogram) and separately (Gillen's Uncanny X-Men and Journey Into Mystery, McKelvie's Defenders and Suburban Glamour, amongst others) for years...

‘Phonogram: The Immaterial Girl’ Delayed Well Into 2013 :(
In what writer Kieron Gillen very accurately described as "bad news," his and artist Jamie McKelvie's much anticipated (by us especially) return to their urban fantasy series Phonogram has been delayed until next year. Subtitled The Immaterial Girl, the new miniseries was meant to debut before the end of 2012, but circumstances have become such that the book may not appear until the back
