The Bats Swoop Down In 'Mother Panic' #3 [Exclusive Preview]
Mother Panic, by Jody Houser and Tommy Lee Edwards, is about a new character who fights criminals as a high-tech masked vigilante in Gotham City. She wears a cape and a helmet with pointed ears, but her outfit is white, and she's clearly unaffiliated with Batman and his allies. In fact, when the premise was initially revealed, nobody was really sure if this was the Gotham of DC's Batman books, or a whole different take on that world. However, it's been set-up since the first issue that the Bat-Family have become aware of Mother Panic's activities. And in this third issue, she and Batwoman come face to face, leading to a fight and some weird angry flirting.

Boom Reveals Retailer Variants For 'Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy'
The upcoming crossover between DC's Gotham Academy and Boom Box's Lumberjanes is on track to be the most highly anticipated team-up of the year --- and considering that we've already seen the cast of GI Joe in a karate tournament against the world warriors of Street Fighter and a Batman/TMNT story where Mr. Freeze was turned into an actual polar bear, that's saying something. Point being, anticipation is running pretty high. So high, in fact, that the first issue of Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy has racked up an impressive roster of nine covers, including retailer-exclusive variants from artists like Veronica Fish, LJ co-creator Brooke Allen, and more. Check them out below (along with the five regular covers)!

Earlier this month, DC released the first paperback collection of Gotham Academy, Becky Cloonan, Brenden Fletcher, and Karl Kerschl's fan-favorite series about Olive Silverlock, Maps Mizoguchi, and their fellow students at Gotham City's most prestigious prep school. We recently got the chance to chat with the entire creative team, and what ensued was a fast-paced and giggle-filled conversation, evidencing the same careful planning and casual camaraderie that has made the series itself such an immediate hit – audiences tend to sense when creators enjoy working on a project, and and it's clear that with Gotham Academy, this trio are having the time of their lives.

Within hours of Mad Max: Fury Road hitting theaters, Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram exploded with fan art featuring the neon wasteland desert and its high octane inhabitants. One character, though, inspired artists like no other --- Imperator Furiosa, the steely warrior of Immortan Joe's army. ComicsAlliance has compiled a collection of our favorites, including a brand-new piece by the talented Greg Ruth, and an exquisite black and white sketch by Jamie McKelvie.

We make a regular practice at ComicsAlliance of spotlighting particular artists or specific bodies of work, as well as the special qualities of comic book storytelling, but because cartoonists, illustrators and their fans share countless numbers of great pinups, fan art and other illustrations on sites like Flickr, Tumblr, DeviantArt and seemingly infinite art blogs that we’ve created Best Art Ever (This Week), a weekly depository for just some of the pieces of especially compelling artwork that we come across in our regular travels across the Web. Some of it’s new, some of it’s old, some of it’s created by working professionals, some of it’s created by future stars, some of it’s created by talented fans, and some of it’s endearingly silly. All of it is awesome.

Fans Show Their Love For The New-Look Batgirl
It's always nice to have a good news day in comics -- and DC probably agrees after the rapturous reception to yesterday's announcement of the new direction for Batgirl from the new creative team of Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher, Jordie Bellaire, and new discovery Babs Tarr (who we've been telling you about for aaages). Judging by all the Batgirl fan-art produced since yesterday's announcement, we feel sure there's a big appetite out there for a Batgirl comic deliberately designed to appeal to a female and family audience -- and for Batgirl's smartly designed and stylish new costume. With credit to Batgirl fan ComixBookGurl for her Twitter call-to-action, we collected all the new Batgirl fan art we could find in order to celebrate what may be the best Batgirl... ever?
