Exclusive: New ‘Women of Marvel’ Covers by Vanesa Del Rey, Sara Richard and Marguerite Sauvage

womc-hed

March's 'Women of Marvel' covers in celebration of Women's History Month are a great showcase of some of the most talented artists in the business --- and hopefully a promise that these women will be overwhelmed with Marvel work in the months that follow! Thus far we've seen covers from Amanda Conner, Gurihiru, Stephanie Hans, Katie Cook, Ming Doyle, Stacey Lee, Erica Henderson, Colleen Doran, and many more. Now we can add three more names to the roster, with covers by Vanesa R. Del Rey, Sara Richard, and Marguerite Sauvage.

Del Rey provides the scary/sexy cover for Black Widow #16, Sauvage offers a blast of pop art perfection for All-New Captain America #5, and Richard conjures a blast of another kind for Deadpool #43, guest starring a Deadpoolian take on one of Squirrel Girl's unbeatable buddies.

Best Art Ever (This Week): Brooklyn 99, Alien, The Crow, Tina Turner, Constantine And More

Untitled-1

We make a regular practice at ComicsAlliance of spotlighting particular artists or specific bodies of work, as well as the special qualities of comic book storytelling, but because cartoonists, illustrators and their fans share countless numbers of great pinups, fan art and other illustrations on sites like Flickr, Tumblr, DeviantArt and seemingly infinite art blogs that we’ve created Best Art Ever (This Week), a weekly depository for just some of the pieces of especially compelling artwork that we come across in our regular travels across the Web. Some of it’s new, some of it’s old, some of it’s created by working professionals, some of it’s created by future stars, some of it’s created by talented fans, awnd some of it’s endearingly silly. All of it is awesome.

An Illustrated Birthday Tribute To The Great Mary Blair, Legendary Walt Disney Artist

BlairHeader

While not a household name to most, Mary Blair's star looms large in the fields of animation, illustration, comics, and character/scenic design. She's an "artist's artist", someone whose designs for Walt Disney reached countless millions -- yet she worked in relative anonymity through most of her lifetime.

Blair's first major assignment for Disney was as supervisor and concept artist for Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros, and she went on to produce designs, concepts, and color stylings for many of the studio's best-loved films, including Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Alice In Wonderland.
